Results for the Barry Duncan memorial
The prediction of a wet weekend no doubt accounted for the low numbers for the Barry Duncan.  In light bench it was Paul Deehan who at 100 shot three 2s, a 1 and a 3 for an agg of 0.2498”, a winning result in any company.  At 200 one got away from him for a two inch group on the A target but he recovered with four very good groups to finish with a minute of angle agg of 0.3566”. His  grand agg (100 and 200) of 0.3032” was good for first place; followed by Barry Wild (0.3277”).  Third place went to Tracy Deehan with 0.3437”.  Tracy in a lady to watch as this was her first ever short range match. A win in light gun at the March fly and now a third in her first group match I can only wonder what the future holds.
In heavy bench it was Barry Wild from John Butts, with Barry taking the two gun to win the Barry Duncan for 2017.

After three at 100y Michael Brazier had not dropped a point and husband and wife duo of Alison and David Brett from Albury had only dropped one each. However two targets at 200 proved character building and at the end It was David Brett from  Barry Wild and Alison Brett with Michael Brazier in fourth place.

Wagga again hosted a very successful fly weekend. To attempt to hit a fly, roughly the size of a postage stamp at 500m is not for the faint hearted.  The Deehan family made it look easy with Tracy winning light gun and Paul winning heavy gun.  The first ever husband and wife couple to take out the light/heavy double and finishing first and second overall; history has been made.  Les Fraser shot a potential heavy gun national record of 0.887 inch. At 300m on Sunday custom class went to Peter VanMeurs with a new club daylight record of 297 and 15 flies (possible 300).  Factory class went to new local fly shooter Adam Browne.

Results for Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February
On Saturday Garry Moore was a clear winner in black powder from Mark Wheeler and Eddie Witt.
On Sunday twenty shooters contested the 100-y group shoot.  Winds were twitchy and the mirage kept the mothball moving but the standard was high getting down to sixteenth place overall before the agg went over the magic inch. In custom class it was Don Ewin on 0.3388 from Paul Deehan (0.3834) and Barry Wilde (0.5306).  In factory class it was Rob Cheetham on 0.4826 from Brad Treddrea (0.6774) and Alan Constable very close on 0.6778.  The standout performance for the day was new junior Lilly Reed in her second comp appearance and first centrefire match. She shot three targets around half an inch and one barely an inch only to have the last one get away from her for 2.8xx, however she still finished with a credible agg barely over an inch. Enough to make more than one experienced shooter think, the girl has a future in target shooting.
